Anytone AT-3318UV HT Radio: Dis-assembly, Waterproofing, and Tritium Vials
In this demonstration you will see some suggested techniques for improving water resistance and night visibility of an Anytone AT-3318UV hand held radio. You can bolster the IPX4 level of water resistance by applying a water displacing and anti corrosive film to the silicon gasket and other mating surfaces of the radio. While the radio is disassembled, it is also a good time to install one of those pesky Tritium Vials you have laying around in your radioactive junk drawers where you keep all your old Radon Pucks.
Because you could damage your radio and void the warranty should you undertake this yourself, we'd suggest you practice on a friend's radio first (but not the radio he may have to use to call for help if you're the one buried in avalanche debris). On second thought, if you're like me and don't have any friends subsequent to making videos like this, maybe do your own first. But recognize you could damage your radio, so do so at your own risk. The most common problem might be accidentally detaching the wires that lead to the speaker, so be prepared to do some soldering if this should occur.
