Icom F1000t

We've had a number of guides show up with this radio asking us to upgrade their very poor stock antenna. From what we've seen, in our opinion, this radio is not good value for the cost. The reason for this is short battery life, high cost of accessories, very poor stock antenna with high SWR, limited number of channels (128), and limited features list. For an example, compare the features and price of this radio with the TYT MD-390 GPS and you'll see what we mean.

However, there are a few who would prefer to pay a premium for something that is perceived to be of better quality than the Chinese products, and who are we to argue? In fact there is some merit to that opinion. The Japanese radios generally receive wider software support from open source programs like CHIRP, or commercial third party software from RT Systems (this model is presently not listed on their website), and their documentation is often written by a native english speaker.
