Consider this: Do you often go out skiing with a family member or friend, and you're the only one with a radio? What is your plan 'B' if you're the one that gets buried in an avalanche? This unit is suitable for anyone looking for a low cost small lightweight radio to carry in their pack for communicating with other groups or summoning assistance, or to give to a friend or family member so they can contact each other if they get separated. (Or simply call for help if the person with the radio disappears under an avalanche, into a crevasse, over a cliff, downstream in current, under a bunch of sweepers in their kayak, or into the sunset in the jaws of a Grizzly Bear.)

It supports both VHF and UHF bands. We needed to fill a gap for low cost reliable radios in order to give recreational users an alternative to buying unknown quality from eBay or Amazon, so we spent months researching and came up with some Baofeng models that are suitable for the financial constraints and needs of recreational AT skiers, sledders, and volunteer S&R Team members. Each unit is tested and can be custom programmed for you prior to shipping.

This model is dual band capable with 128 channels. It has the most support for accessories of all the Baofeng models and is one of the few that you can obtain an optional 3800mAH battery pack for. It comes with the standard accessories including an earpiece/Mic, 1800mAH battery, dropin charger and antenna that is not recommended for use:
