The budget lights are built in house by us in various configurations to address particular needs. The procedure we have used is to identify and source the best quality but affordable 'hosts' (the body of the light), and then use the same criteria for the emitter and driver boards. That allows us for example to use higher quality copper based MCPCB's (the start the LED is mounted on, copper dissipates heat better and therefore allows the LED to be drivern harder, which means it is brighter), and choose the modes and driving current of the driver boards. It also allows us to source CREE LED's with very high color rendition index values, which is very important for Search and Rescue work.
The logic behind a variety of budget lights is to make it affordable to have a selection of lights that will be used in the field for different activities. Click on the links to the left for more details.
